Dee Dee is the Director of Service Delivery for Schurz Communications and has been with them for almost four months. She is responsible for consolidating and establishing IT customer service for the organization across their newspaper, radio and television locations. In addition, she has IT oversight for the South Bend Tribune and Bloomington Herald Times in Indiana and the Petoskey News-Review in Michigan.
Prior to Schurz Communications, she was the Regional IT Director for Gannett’s California and Colorado Newspapers and was responsible for all aspects of the IT departments at the Palm Springs Desert Sun, Visalia Times-Delta, Tulare Advance-Register, and Salinas Californian in California and The Coloradoan in Ft. Collins, CO. She was with Gannett Co., Inc. for almost 29 years. Her newspaper career with Gannett began as an inside sales representative in the classified advertising department at The Olympian in Olympia, WA and about two months after taking the job she moved into the Finance department with advertising accounts receivable and credit responsibilities. She worked at Gannett’s corporate headquarters in Virginia twice. The first time (about 5 years), she provided software support to their home grown advertising sales analysis and accounts receivables system which included implementing the system at many of their properties. The second stint lasted almost nine years. Again, she provided software support to their newspapers but also helped to develop the customer service organization they currently use today to provide software and hardware support. She then moved into a role responsible for recruiting IT staff for the corporate level and managing corporate IT contracts. This led into a position with Gannett Supply Corporation, Gannett’s purchasing arm, where she negotiated multi-million dollar contracts for major IT and production purchases and pricing for newspaper consumables. It was during this time she went back to college, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems Management.
In between the two stints at Gannett’s corporate offices, she was the Information Systems Manager at The Record in Stockton, CA, responsible for all of their business systems. While she was there, the newspaper was sold to the Omaha World Herald.
Dee Dee received a Gannett President's Ring for excellence in IT Leadership in 2007. She was one of five IT executives in the company presented with that honor for that year.
