It is the brainchild of a media company, Brunei Times Sdn Bhd.  On July 1, 2010, The Brunei Times changed its format to compact size to coincide with its 4th anniversary of the newspaper, in which the newspaper has 48 pages.

The Brunei Times chose Atex CMS and Atex Advertising systems to manage its editorial newsroom and to enhance its advertising efficiency.
