Atex appoints Gustaf Sahlman Group Director, Digital

12 August 2010 Reading, UK— Atex announces that Gustaf Sahlman has been appointed Group Director, Digital. Sahlman will develop and drive Atex’s next generation digital strategy, which focuses on helping media-rich companies transform their businesses with enhanced digital technologies. Sahlman will also be responsible for building greater brand awareness for Atex products in verticals outside the media industry, where Atex is already a market leader.

“I think this position represents a great opportunity to ensure that the Atex software portfolio possesses the functionality to help our customers make the critical transition into the digital era,” said Sahlman. “At the end of the day that’s what it’s all about—crossing the Rubicon from analogue business to digital business and in the process cutting costs and achieving more revenue through improved online offerings. At Atex, we must be ready to give companies the tools to take these steps as easily and efficiently as possible.”

Another goal for Sahlman is to further expand Atex’s global message, one that demonstrates the company’s history as a pioneer in the content management industry. The company today is serving more than 1000 customers in 55 countries around the world, and Sahlman believes it’s critical these customers understand the role Atex has played in the CMS industry.

Sahlman continued: “Atex has an extremely exciting heritage of thought leadership going back 37 years to when the entire notion of content management and advertising systems was just developing. The evolution of our company demonstrates this continued level of innovation and vision, which has made it successful. It’s important for our customers to understand Atex’s roots, so they can appreciate how we have always been committed to developing products to help businesses move forward.”

Sahlman previously served as Atex CEO of Polopoly, the position he held when Atex acquired the Web CMS provider in 2008. He was part of the team that built Polopoly into one of Europe’s leading content management vendors. As CEO, he was responsible for the development of Atex’s digital roadmap and oversaw Polopoly’s global expansion. All told, Sahlman has a 15-year track-record of working with knowledge-intensive high growth technology companies and he combines a strong understanding of the digital landscape with a never ending business drive.

Alan Reardon, Atex CEO commented: “It is very clear that publishers need to take back control of their brand and optimise their digital revenue model whilst continually reducing operating costs. Combining content and advertising across an ever more compelling user experience delivered from a common infrastructure, workflow, CRM and finance system is the best option for improved profitability. Under the stewardship of Gustaf Sahlman, I am confident that Atex will continue to provide innovative solutions that deliver irrefutable ROI for our clients."
