Alma News Media, Finland’s leading digital news media player, has announced a key partnership with Atex, a leading global software company, to spearhead its transition to digital subscriptions while maintaining a robust presence in print media. This collaboration strengthens Alma’s ongoing digital evolution and commitment to delivering enhanced user experiences for media subscribers.

Key Role of Atex in Alma’s Growth in Digital Landscape

Although Alma has been offering digital subscriptions since 1996, Kayak by Atex will help Alma grow its digital subscription business more efficiently. The collaboration will leverage product-based, continuous (agile) development methodologies to ensure Alma receives new features swiftly. This approach will also facilitate the development of Kayak, Atex’s flagship product, benefiting all Atex customers.

Kayak Modules Implementation

The partnership will see Alma utilizing several key Kayak modules:

  • Kayak eSuite Self Services: Empowering Alma’s subscribers with a seamless self-service experience.
  • Kayak eSuite Sales Portal: Enhancing sales capabilities while allowing Alma to maintain part of the campaign management through its own developed websites, utilizing the Kayak API.
  • Kayak eSuite Integration with Alma’s SSO: Ensuring a smooth and secure single sign-on experience for users.
  • Payment Integration: Incorporating Paytrail and Kayak Payment API for streamlined and secure payment processes.
  • AWS SNS and Webhook Integration: Facilitating efficient communication with email services and other integrations.

These modules form the foundation of the MyType Vault digital paywall solution.

Live and Upcoming Launches

All Alma publications, including Iltalehti and Kauppalehti, are already live on the Kayak platform.  Later this year, new features will be launched that showcase Kayak’s versatile and scalable capabilities.

Development Pipeline for 2025

Looking ahead, Alma’s in-house developed system will be replaced with Kayak modules. Additionally, Kayak’s campaign management capabilities will undergo renewal to better support digital subscriptions and digital products, ensuring Alma remains at the forefront of digital innovation.

“Key partnership with Alma is an important milestone for Atex. It boosts the development of the Kayak product family, especially by bringing fresh ideas and functional demands for digital transformation. We are looking forward to a fruitful and mutually beneficial co-operation with the Alma team.”

Jorma Ainassaari, VP Sales and Operations, Atex Software Oy

“We are expanding our collaboration with Atex to cover our entire content business. Kayak’s versatile capabilities have already impressed us, and I look forward to developing and growing our business together with Atex successfully.”
