Every journalist knows the tax that comes with a great interview: the recording itself. An hour of tape can easily cost three or four hours of transcription and drafting before a single word reaches the page: time that could have gone into reporting, following up a case, or simply talking to one more source.
Our project “JEDI”, developed in collaboration with Geneea, is built to give that time back.
From audio to article, not just to text
Most transcription tools stop once the words are on the page. JEDI goes further. It takes up to 60 minutes of interview audio and turns it into a structured, 2,000–3,000 word draft, organised into sections, with a narrative flow, ready for an editor to pick up.
It works in three phases:
- Cleanup — dialogue is merged, split sentences resolved, grammar and typos fixed, with every change checked against the original recording.
- Article creation — a structured draft takes shape, with topic-based sections and suggested follow-up questions to fill any gaps.
- Refinement & verification — terminology and formatting are checked, and every factual claim is traced back to the source audio, so fact-checking is built in rather than an afterthought.
The result reads like a journalist wrote it. The human eye stays exactly where it should: on the final editorial judgement.

We decided to open this project to everyone. You can upload your own audio files and try JEDI directly with no setup required. It’s the fastest way to see what a real interview from your own newsroom looks like once JEDI has worked on it.
The beta is free, and joining it means:
